"These events are often sold out and parking can be limited."
That line comes from the Naples Botanical Garden FAQ, where the Garden tells ticket holders when to arrive for Johnsonville Night Lights in the Garden. This year the event runs from November 27, 2026, through January 3, 2027, at the Garden on Bayshore Drive. It is dark on December 24, 25 and 31.
For anyone planning a holiday evening from Grey Oaks, the ticket type matters less than you might think. Three dates set the price: the day you buy, the week you go, and the hour you walk in. The cheapest and most expensive tickets for the same family of four can differ by close to three times.
Two Sale Dates, Two Weeks Apart
Member tickets went on sale October 19. Nonmembers can start buying on November 2. As this post goes up, members have had three days to pick their nights, and the general public is still eleven days away.
The same split applies to the evening's single most limited booking. The Fogg Café Premium Patio Package can be reserved by members from October 19 and by nonmembers from November 2. The Garden sells only one per night. With 35 event nights and one patio package for each, the members-only window settles a lot of that inventory before public sales begin.
Here is the season in order:
- October 19: Member tickets and member patio reservations open.
- November 2: Nonmember tickets and nonmember patio reservations open.
- November 27: Opening night, the Friday after Thanksgiving.
- November 30 through December 17: Monday through Thursday nights qualify for the new group discount.
- December 18: Prices step up for the rest of the run.
- January 3: Closing night.
December 18 Is the Line That Moves the Price
Every ticket category has two prices. The lower one covers November 27 through December 17. The higher one covers December 18 through January 3. Late Night tickets, which cover entry at 7:45 pm or later, are discounted every night of the run.
Put those prices together for two adults and two children ages 4 to 17, and the spread is plain:
| Family of four | Nov 27 to Dec 17 | Dec 18 to Jan 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Member, standard entry | $54 | $62 |
| Member, Late Night entry | $42 | $50 |
| Nonmember, standard entry | $108 | $124 |
| Nonmember, Late Night entry | $84 | $100 |
A member family arriving after 7:45 pm in the expensive final two weeks pays $50, which is less than the $54 member price for an early-season standard entry. And the most expensive family night, nonmember standard entry after December 18, costs $124. That is almost three times the $42 a member family pays for a Late Night entry before December 18.
The event runs from 6 pm to 10 pm. A 7:45 entry still leaves more than two hours among the lights.
Where a Family Membership Pays for Itself
Membership halves the ticket price because of how the Garden sets member pricing. A Family membership is $160 a year. It covers free general admission for up to two named adults plus the member's children or grandchildren under 18. Night Lights is not included in that admission. Members buy discounted event tickets like everyone else.
For a family of four, the math goes like this:
- One standard Night Lights visit before December 18 saves $54.
- One standard visit on or after December 18 saves $62.
- One daytime visit at regular admission, $27 per adult and $12 per child, saves $78.
One holiday evening plus one ordinary daytime visit in season adds up to $132 or more in savings. Two Night Lights evenings, one before and one after December 18, save $116 on their own. Add a single daytime visit and the total passes $160. The Individual membership, at $95 a year, saves $18 to $21 on each standard adult Night Lights ticket.
Above the Family level, guest passes don't help with Night Lights. The Garden's membership FAQ says Garden Circle guest passes are not valid for the event. What the $650 Waterlily level does add is an invitation to the Night Lights Patron Party, along with two annual guest admission passes.
What It Costs to Keep Your Plans Open
Changing your date or arrival time costs more, in two tiers.
- FLEX: $30 per adult and $15 per child for members, or $55 and $25 for nonmembers, with one date exchange.
- Premium: $70 for members or $95 for nonmembers. You reserve a night but can enter anytime during the event, and you get up to two date exchanges.
- Exchanges: Both require contacting Visitor Services 24 hours before the original date.
For a member adult, one date change costs $12 more than a $18 early-season standard ticket. Arriving whenever you like costs $52 more than that.
At the top of the range, the Fogg Café Premium Patio Package costs $600 for members and $750 for nonmembers. It includes a private patio reservation for up to 10 guests that lasts all evening, starting at 6 pm, plus 10 premium tickets. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours ahead through [email protected]. Ten member premium tickets bought separately would cost $700, and ten nonmember premium tickets would cost $950. So for a party of ten that wants anytime entry, the patio package costs less than buying the tickets alone, and the patio comes with it.
The new group reservation option works differently. Groups of at least 20 get 10% off for reservations on Monday through Thursday nights from November 30 to December 17, with entry between 6:15 and 7:30 pm. Member discounts cannot be combined with it, and bookings must be made at least 72 hours ahead. Ten percent off a $36 nonmember adult ticket comes to $32.40. A member pays $18 at any time. The group rate mostly helps large parties made up of nonmembers.
Why the Garden Uses Timed Entry
Ticket windows and price tiers exist for practical reasons. The Garden closes from 5 to 6 pm to set up for evening events. It says timed tickets are there to help with parking, and that arriving late can mean a longer wait to park. There is no shuttle around the grounds. Wheelchairs and scooters are covered in the Garden's accessibility guidance. The FAQ also warns that night events can be chilly and suggests dressing for the weather.
The event matters to the institution too. The Garden's 2024 Annual Report says Night Lights that year drew thousands of people and that ticket sales generated almost 10% of the Garden's annual operating budget. Prices that step up after December 18, a members-first sale and timed entry all make sense for a single holiday event that supports that much of the year.
If you visit the Garden in daylight before your Night Lights evening, Fogg Café now hosts Ánima Botánica, an exhibition by Pseudomero that shows plants, animals and ecosystems from a one-inch-tall point of view. It opened October 1, 2026, and runs through July 9, 2028. Members can also join the free, staff-led Dig Deeper talks, held daily at 11 am and 1 pm.
At Taranto Team, we keep the Garden's October 19 and November 2 dates on our own calendar as we plan the holidays. If you'd like to talk about the season ahead in Grey Oaks, schedule a private consultation.
