"That curb, that's where this Piazza central area is right now, they're going to basically flatten that so guests can easily walk across." That's the fine-dining end of what changed. The other end arrived seven months later and moved a lot faster. Shake Shack opened at Mercato on February 20, 2026, the first location of the chain in the region, with staff lined up and locals showing up the same morning for a ShackBurger. A second Naples-area location, in the former Pollo Tropical space on Collier Boulevard at Restaurant Row, is targeted for the third or fourth quarter of 2026. The Calendar That Finally Has Somewhere to Go
The events themselves aren't new. Cars and Coffee 239 has run on the third Sunday of most months for years, drawing around 400 cars and thousands of spectators to browse everything from muscle cars to exotics, with a different local charity as the beneficiary each time and VIP lawn parking requiring a fifty-dollar donation. Five restaurants at Mercato open early for it, with The Pub Naples serving brunch starting at 9 a.m. and Juicelation opening at 8. What's different now is that the show has an actual stage to put a musician on, instead of working around whatever open space happened to be free that month.
Mercato Nights Music Series runs the first Thursday of every month, complimentary to attend, with live music and drinks from The Pub's outdoor bar. It existed before the Piazza rebuild too. What changed is capacity and comfort: more shade, more seating, a flattened walkway between the two halves of the courtyard that no longer has a curb splitting it in two.
